Mohammed Makki
Mohammed has established himself as a research oriented architect. His work has been internationally recognized by both professional and academic institutions alike; where his research has been published and presented across several highly reputable peer reviewed journals and conferences worldwide.
Mohammed holds Masters in Emergent Technologies and Design from the Architectural Association (AA) in London, as well as a PhD from the AA gained under the supervision of Dr. Michael Weinstock. Mohammed’s work is focused on advanced computational design methods and the application of biological and natural processes within the design process. As part of his research, Mohammed is the co-founder of the plugin Wallacei, an evolutionary and analytic engine for Grasshopper 3D that allows users to run evolutionary simulations and analyse the results within a single streamlined user interface. Additionally, Mohammed is currently a senior lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
Mohammed's current research examines the growth and environmental/social adaptation of urban tissues through the application of an algorithmic biological model of evolutionary development. Working closely with the most progressive computational tools, he has extensively researched the biological principles of evolutionary development, especially in the field of genetics, and firmly believes that their application in urban systems is essential for a more sustainable and adaptive future for our children and grandchildren.
Pavlos Schizas
Pavlos has established himself as a leading architect and designer, whose award winning work has been published and presented to global institutions.
Pavlos holds a Master of Architecture (with distinction) in the field of Emergent Technologies and Design at the Architectural Association (AA) in London. Throughout his post graduate studies, his research examined emergent technologies in the fields of evolutionary computation, digital modelling and simulation, fabrication techniques and performance-oriented design. Moreover, his interest was mostly stimulated by the field of Biomimetics; in particular, Natural Systems and their interconnection with architecture. Pavlos believes that if we take examples from within nature itself, we can draw inspiration that allow us to achieve great results in the world of architecture as well.
Pavlos ensured that his research continued beyond his post-graduate studies, tackling bioclimatic architecture through developing and implementing avant-garde passive cooling systems in projects of multiple scales and locales. His latest research explores the translation and application of biological metabolic systems for the development of urban tissues. Pavlos has presented the findings of his research at distinguished academic institutions, such as the National Technical University of Athens, University College London (UK) and the Architectural Association (UK), as well published in several mainstream journals throughout the world.
Revano Satria
Revano has been recognized for his entrepreneurial achievements; he has founded numerous independent and highly successful firms, providing services for all stages of the design process.
Revano holds a Master of Architecture in the field of Emergent Technologies and Design at the Architectural Association (AA) in London, where his pioneering research throughout his post-graduate studies allowed him to serve as a consultant for Buro Happold in London on the Cairo Expo City project in Egypt (designed by Zaha Hadid Architects).
Revano’s highly distinguished career has been cemented with an extensive number of national and international awards, three of which; The Best of The Best, The Excellent Design and Favourite Design, - awarded by the Indonesian Architectural Association - were presented to him during his time in academia. However, his most prized possession was for his achievement in winning 1st place in his first International Competition for the development of Bangka Waterfront City in Indonesia.
More importantly however, Revano ensures that he gives back to the architectural community, holding countless conferences and seminars lecturing to students and professionals alike on the progressive practices of architectural design and how their application is meant to serve all aspects of human life, ensuring his research serves more than just the end user.
Michel Moukarzel
Michel has been involved in various projects in Lebanon and the MENA region, resolving complex structural and architectural designs using cutting edge design techniques.
After graduating from the American University of Beirut (A.U.B.) in 2007 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, his passion for Architecture took him to the Architectural Association (A.A.) in London where he gained a Master of Architecture in Emergent Technologies and Design. Michel consulted for companies like Buro Happold, BDP and Zaha Hadid Architects on complex projects including the design and structural resolution of the Roofs for 3 IKEA Malls in China (Beijing, Wuxi, Wuhan).
Michel's education equips him with the knowledge to handle both engineering and architectural issues, applying interdisciplinary methods and tools in a domain of synthesis, involving high-tech building components, ranging from building elements to space structures. During his experience he had to handle such structures and the problems that could arise from their adaptability to the environment, from the conception level to the final implementation, through steps involving analysis, design, scripting, testing, tuning, and detailing.
Michel is currently leading the 'Client Rep' branch of MSSM Associates, representing clients throughout the world and managing projects at various scales.
